Jim Pavao
Jim is a 30-year veteran science teacher, currently teaching biology and physics courses.
He played trombone and sang bass as a high school student in southeastern Massachusetts and for a year or two in college. Sometime in the mid 1980's he joined the Quabbin Community Band as a trombonist and about 25 years ago, he began to learn to play tuba, which he now plays in that group. He also plays both trombone and tuba in local brass ensembles. In 2001 Jim was talked into joining the then-forming community chorus that eventually became Circle of Song. He sings the lower bass parts ("second bass") and occasionally is called upon to play electric bass accompaniment for the group.
Jim particularly values the group's sense of community as well as the musical growth that the group has provided. Added to that is the growth in personal confidence that comes from performing before an audience.
