Circle of Song

My love for singing began at a very young age. When my sister and I were only five and in kindergarten, our mother dressed us up in the prettiest green outfits and sent us to school. The two of us stood up in front of the class and sang "Sure It's The Same Old Shillalah." The teacher liked it so much that she sent us around the school to sing. To this day, neither one of us can remember how we learned the song in the first place. Whenever we had company, my father would always ask the two of us to sing, at which we always had a song ready. By age nine we began to harmonize and by the age of 12, a girlfriend joined us and we became the "Teenettes" We sang in minstrals, hospitals, churches and even made it onto the "Russ Emery Talent Show" which was on T.V.

No matter where I've lived, one of the first things that I have done was to look for a singing group and I have always been very lucky. I have sung with some wonderful people wherever I have been.

When I first saw an ad in the paper that a new group was forming in Barre I was excited and made the call to Julie. I believe that I only missed the first get together. I joined that year and have been a part of the group ever since. My love of music has certainly expanded as new and somewhat difficult scores have been presented to us and I have enjoyed the challenge. I hope to keep on singing until I can sing no more, but by then, all of the music will be within me and I will sing forever.
